Congratulations! You have made it to the last month, which is when we bring all of our learning from the monthly challenges together to engage students in The Changemaker Project– an inquiry project where each student chooses one Global Goal and implements a local action project to work towards that UN Global Goal.
You could have your whole class work on the same goal and develop an action plan together, or let students choose a Global Goal they are interested in and in small groups or individually, they could implement an action plan.
There is no one way to implement The Changemaker Project in your classroom – as long as it is student-driven. Each month this year, students have been completing challenges that we have created, but now, it is their turn to work towards that one goal that they are passionate about, and develop a local initiative that works towards that UN Global Goal.
Some ideas for The Changemaker Project:
Social media campaign to raise awareness
Run or bike ride to raise money for a NGO working towards a Global Goal
Make keychains or a bake sale to raise money for a NGO working towards a Global Goal
Starting a school or community garden
Hold a community event to raise awareness about one of the Global Goals
Write a letter to your local government or newspaper about one of the Global Goals
Here is The Changemaker Project Action Plan summary you can use with your students, as well as a Changemaker Certificate to give them once they have completed The Changemaker Project.
